French Teacher, Curriculum Writer and Author of French-Learner Literature
I enjoy helping learners acquire language without the stress of unrealistic expectations. Language acquisition takes TIME and lots of INPUT. I also enjoy helping teachers adopt new strategies that foster and facilitate language acquisition for their learners to help reduce planning time and stress and increase enjoyment for learners AND teachers.
I am the author of several books for beginning to intermediate French learners and resources to aid in acquisition. I curate stories to publish based on my students’ antics and their imaginations so that there are ample choices for beginning-level French learners to READ comprehensible text to develop a linguistic system in their heads.
With a Master’s Degree in French/Second Language Acquisition, I enjoy helping teachers learn new strategies to help their learners acquire. Facilitating language acquisition is not always how we learned to teach–I want to help teachers feel less stress and more success with their learners! I regularly present at KSWLA conferences, facilitate workshops and present sessions at Central States Conferences, and have presented for ACTFL and NNELL’s Summer Summit. During the summer, my friend/colleague and I facilitate a 4-day workshop to help teachers streamline their planning and try new strategies.
I am a member of the Kansas World Language Association (KSWLA – recent executive board member), ACTFL, Central States Advisory Council, NNELL (National Network for Early Language Learning – KS Representative), National Museum of Language (KS Liaison), AATF (American Association of Teachers of French), and a Cohort 4 LILL Advocate (Leadership Initiative in Language Learning through ACTFL).
